Hop Splash Tasting Notes
Hop Splash pours clear and pale with a fine, persistent carbonation closer to a pilsner than a seltzer. The aroma arrives first, citrus and stone fruit from the Citra and Amarillo hops, with no malt sweetness behind it. The finish is dry and short, with none of the lingering bitterness of an IPA, because the hops steep only long enough to pull aroma before bitter compounds carry over.
How to serve it
Serve straight from the fridge at refrigerator temperature. Pour into a glass rather than drinking from the can if you want the aroma, since the hop character sits mostly in the nose. A standard pint or a stemmed tulip both work. Do not add ice, which flattens the carbonation and mutes the hops.
What to drink it with
The dry finish and citrus aroma sit well next to food that would otherwise pair with an IPA. Grilled chicken, fish tacos, sharp cheddar, and anything with lime or cilantro. It also works as a palate reset between courses or between beers, which is the use case the brewing team designed it around.
Original or Grapefruit & Blood Orange?
The Original is hops only, Citra and Amarillo, with no fruit juice and zero calories. Grapefruit & Blood Orange pairs Mosaic and Simcoe hops with real juice, which adds 15 calories per can and a rounder, sweeter body. Choose the Original if you want the drier, more IPA-adjacent version, and the Grapefruit & Blood Orange if you want something closer to a flavored sparkling water.

Like other bubbly drinks, carbon dioxide (CO2) that’s dissolved in the water makes it fizzy. Hop Splash has zero alcohol, yet its CO2 actually comes from beer fermentation!

What is hop waterWe use real Citra and Amarillo hops, steeping them in water for a precise, brief amount of time to extract only the bright, tropical medley of hop notes. It’s like dry-hopping a beer where the goal is more aroma and flavor, leaving bitterness behind. And since hops cannot intoxicate, plus there’s no yeast and fermentation involved, Hop Splash is completely non-alcoholic, 0.0% ABV.

When you are at the beach, on the roof deck, or hanging out at home, the bitter IPA flavor is a great antidote to sugary sodas, or other cloying beverages. Hop water is refreshing. I love all the Hop Splash varieties, but my all-time favorite is the Amarillo, Citra. The Amarillo, Citra to me stands out with its delicious hops flavor. My request would be for another hop-only variety.
